Pyrography Exhibition
2019: Pyrography Charity Exhibition Supporting the Taiwan After-Care Association Hualien Branch
Azure Hotel invited award-winning pyrography artist Mr. Weng Rui-chong to curate a charity art exhibition, aiming to transform the hotel beyond a place of accommodation into a vibrant bridge for artistic and cultural exchange, offering guests a refreshing cultural experience. By integrating local Hualien creative elements, the hotel strives to serve as a platform for artists to showcase their talent while enabling travelers to discover another dimension of Hualien's beauty.
Mr. Weng Rui-chong is an acclaimed pyrography master who won the "Association Award" and "Gold Award" in the painting division at the Japan Pyrography Competition in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Dedicated to promoting pyrography art for many years, he generously shares his technique and experience with students. For this exhibition, four pyrography pieces created by inmates at Hualien Prison under Mr. Weng’s guidance were displayed in the hotel's first-floor lounge. Mr. Weng firmly believes that art knows no bounds and that everyone possesses a fertile field of potential within their heart. Through creative expression, he hopes to inspire patience, rebuild self-confidence, and help individuals reintegrate into society.
Firmly committed to supporting public welfare and arts, Azure Hotel provided complimentary exhibition space and assisted with curation and promotion. Mr. Weng donated 10% of the proceeds from this exhibition to the Hualien Branch of the Taiwan After-Care Association. This initiative represented far more than an art sale; it offered meaningful support for the growth and rehabilitation of former offenders—bringing them hope and new opportunities while inspiring more stories of personal transformation.
